Makeup is not a mask; it is an art, passion and expression. We believe that makeup can make a women beautiful as well as confident.
The Wedding Look by WedAbout is hosting a masterclass by celebrity makeup artist Vidya Tikari for soon-to-be brides. Vidya who has styled many top notch Bollywood divas as well as brides shares that there is a difference in styling both. Our masterclass will serve the purpose of making the bride aware of the adorning the right makeup.
We had the opportunity to meet Vidya Tikari on a casual chat at her vibrant salon. The conversation revealed some important insights about makeup and we could not wait to share it with our readers.

When asked on how she feels on the event organized by WedAbout, she chirpily quotes that it is just fantastic. She adds that, “What more can a bride ask? She gets a chance to do her bridal makeup, try different wedding trousseau, and get herself photographed. She can encapsulate herself on how exactly she would look in her wedding. If this can’t make a bride confident about her choice then nothing can! ”

Makeup is not about looking fair or hiding scars, it is more. It is about highlighting your features and hence your persona. Vidya feels that, “The face is the most uncovered part of the body. When someone meets you the first thing he will notice is your eyes, your skin or your face. Perhaps then they might notice your dress or your jewellery. Make up is an essential ornament.”

It goes without saying that makeup needs to match the ambiance. Makeup during the day and the makeup during the night are as different as sun and the moon. Vidya explains that, “the primary difference between day makeup and night makeup is the colour and the shades. The day look is more pristine, pure, youthful and fresh while the night time is showtime and party time with a lot of glam. Saying that, you can always convert your day look into night by giving different dimensions and layers to your makeup. Adding fake lashes and getting smokey eyes with a darker shade of lipstick makes the deal”

“Makeup is like an icing on the cake. Although what is on the outside matters, but it is also important to know what’s inside”, Says Vidya. She pursued an Associate Diploma In Beauty Therapy from Australia where she acquired in-depth knowledge on beauty. She learnt about skin, hairs, facial structure, and body structure. For all women, it is important to know themselves before they decide to add makeup.

It is essential to carry your vanity bag with you wherever you go, you never know when you might need to get a brush up. And for a bride, even post her marriage she might have to learn to keep herself always stylish and party ready. According to Vidya Tikari, “there are a few essential things which needs to be inside your vanity bag. A great mascara, good liquid eye liner, brown coloured Kajal, foundation and a non-transferable lipstick are the must to be packed in a bride’s makeup kit.”
These were some wonderful nuggets from the beauty queen herself. We suggest all brides to make the most of the upcoming event and attend the masterclass to know more on makeup and styling.
