Special occasions deserve a special look. Choosing the outfit that you have always dreamt of when you walk hand-in-hand with your would-be-husband is of paramount importance in your life.
Here are certain guidelines that we at WedAbout recommend for choosing your wedding dress as a pro:
Always look for an outfit that complements your skin tone.

Most of the colors look good on a cooler skin tone. For bridal trousseau, opt for bright shades of pink and red for a traditional Indian look; exotic scuba blue, bold marsala, tangerine, toasted almond or strawberry ice that turn you into a pretty bride. Soft colors like light pink, peach and mint will give you that chic and classy look. Shades like grey and brown are not recommended for this skin tone as they would make you look dull and do not enhance your bridal glow. Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Aishwarya Rai all adorn this skin tone

Brighten up your look with the fire shades of yellow, orange and red. Hot Pinks, peaches and corals accentuate your beauty instantly. Try earthy colors like emerald green and light dusty pink and midnight blue for an un-mistaken hot look. Avoid beige, gold and greys as they fade in front of your complexion, so, brighter the better! Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra are the ones who have medium skin tone.

For an olive skin tone, neutrals and pastel shades are the best option. Other colors that look gorgeous on you are classic blue, marsala, burnt orange, dusty pink, peach and emerald green. Metallic gold, silver and bronze are just perfect for your complexion. Radiate your look in your bridal attire with the colors of your choice. Do not opt for neon colours, wine and tomato red as they go against your skin tone. Freida Pinto, Bipasha Basu and Konkona Sen are some examples of dusky skin tone.
Choose the outfit keeping your body shape in mind. Accentuate your beauty with the attire that compliments your figure and takes care of your problem areas.

Sonakshi Sinha is the best example for a traditional round body shape or the apple shaped body type with excess weight around the stomach area. Choose outfits which highlight your upper torso. Anarkali or empire waistline is best suited for these body types. Softer and flowy fabrics like chiffon and crepe are undoubtedly the best options. A heavy embroidered blouse with sweetheart neckline will be all you want to bring attention to your shoulders. Avoid flaired lehenga or gowns.

If you have a wide bust, broad shoulders and heavy top with a slender lower body, you possess an inverted triangle body shape. A full flair voluminous lehenga and minimally designed tops or cholis can enliven your look. Experiment your look with a kurti style blouse to balance the body shape. Carefully select floaty, drapey and light fabrics and avoid stiff materials. (vidya balan)

Known as the A-line shape, this figure is straight as a ruler. The easiest to dress body shape, you have a small bust , narrow waist, straight hips and bottom. Add volume to your shape by choosing an anarkali with heavy embroidery or a full ghera lehenga for that fuller look. Avoid A-line lehengas and flowy duppattas rather choose a stiff material that holds up.

Blessed with nice curves, any attire looks good on you. With a well-defined waistline, a fishtail bridal lehenga or an A-line lehenga in flowy fluid fabrics like georgette, chiffon suit you the best. Wear it with a short choli or a corset and flaunt your curvy waist.
Dressing up according to your height can make you look stunning and attract everybody’s attention. The bride-to-be has to carefully choose the right outfit according to her height.

Choosing a floor length lehenga will make the bride look leaner and stylish. While wearing a saree, drape it nicely and show off your mid-riff. Choose a calf-length anarkali than a full length as the vertical kalis will make you look even taller. Choose a full-sleeve top or blouse to camouflage your skinny look.

For an average and petite body shape, pick a bridal outfit that gives a taller impression. The ensemble should not be very heavy with too many colors in it. Lehengas with vertical kalis add to your height. Whether you choose a saree or lehenga for your wedding, wear it slightly above the waist with a short blouse. Avoid short sleeves or sleeveless blouses or cholis as they make you look shorter. Try wearing U or V necklines. While Rani Mukherjee has an average body shape, Shraddha Kapoor is known for her petite body frame.

A perfect wedding dress should complement your personality and style sense. Be it a contemporary or a traditional look, the choice of fabric, color, cut, design and every other little detail must depict the bride’s persona. You will look the best and radiate happiness if you are comfortable in the dress you always wanted to flaunt.
Go girl! Wear the most ravishing attire on your d-day to look like a star of the event.
